Fall Decor

I know I have said earlier I am not a huge fan of Halloween but I like to have some fall decor around the house this time of year. Plus, if I add "fall" decor I can keep it up until Thanksgiving. Here are a few touches around the house:

Paper mache candy corns {got them as a gift almost 8 years ago, no idea where they are from but I still like them}.

Added a few gourds to a basket on my console table {$1 each at WalMart, last year}.

Pumpkin candles from Pottery Barn {got them on sale for $10?? a few years ago}. They have similar one's on sale here. 

And a few mini pumpkins put in a bowl on the coffee table {picked up at local grocery store for $0.50/each}.

It's hard to do, but always buy holiday decorations on sale after the holidays are over. Come December, no one wants a pumpkin candle anymore. 

Fall Wardrobe

This fall weather as made me realize one thing, that I would really like some new fall clothes. This is the first time since college that I haven't been wearing work clothes in the cooler months. I am so inspired by these outfits to put together some cute outfits {all images are from polyvore.com where you can design your own outfits}:

Fall Wreath {tutorial}

I must be in a crafty mood because I feel like I have a lot of tutorials to show you. Remember the wreath below?

Well I got around to making my own this week. I was really pleased with how it turned out.

Here's what you'll need:

1. wreath form {Michael's $5.99}

2. green moss {I had some left over but I also saw some at Michael's for $3.99}

3. pumpkin{s} or fall decor of your choice {Michael's $1.97}

4. ribbon/burlap if you would like to hang your wreath

5. and your handy glue gun/hot glue

1. Start by covering wreath base with moss. I went around the front first, then did the inside, and finally around the back. Glue, moss, glue, moss, glue, etc....

And keep going...

2. Keep going, all the way around. Fill in any empty spaces with more moss. Here's what you'll have:

3. Add pumpkin by putting a LOT of hot glue on the bottom of the pumpkin and attach to middle of inside of the wreath.

I decided that I wanted to hang mine in my kitchen so I didn't add any ribbon or burlap. Mine is just hanging from a nail which you can't see at all because there is so much moss. It is a pretty fragile wreath so I think it might be best kept indoors. Or you could use a less fragile moss than I did and it would look great on a front door. And one last thing to note, my moss had some green dye so my nice white grout and tile turned a nice shade of green. After some bleach it is as good as new but I definitely should have put down some newspaper.

And to make my Fall wreath into a Winter wreath I'm thinking of removing the pumpkin {got to love hot glue for the ease of removing} and put some ornaments up instead.

Fall

I can officially say that it is finally starting to feel like fall here in Southern California. We had the hottest days of the year earlier in the week {thought I was going to melt} but it has finally cooled off and that fall feeling is in the air. We actually woke up to thunderstorms this morning which is especially unusual this time of the year, well any time of the year. It was kind of nice and was a good excuse to have a relaxing morning. Husband went surfing, which is probably not the smartest thing to do but it's not like I was going to stop him.

I love the fall, we got married in the fall, husband's birthday is in the fall, love a good fall meal, college football, throwing on a scarf, etc...As much as I love the fall I hate Halloween. I'm not a big fan of dressing up, don't like to be scared {AT ALL}, just not a fan. This hatred probably stemmed from an itchy fairy costume in the kindergarten Halloween parade and I remember it like it was yesterday. Maybe I'll enjoy it more now that I have a cute baby to dress up {already got her costume}. Needless to say I don't really decorate for Halloween but I do like some fall decor around the house. I was looking for some inspiration of a cute fall wreath for the front door. Here are some ideas I found on Etsy. The links to the individual shops are below.
